Many of our members have just returned from a photographic safari through outback Australia. While the route was chosen for its dramatic photographic opportunities, the fellowship enjoyed with people of similar interest proved to be of equal value.
The trip included Streaky Bay, Ceduna, Penong, Eucla, Googs Track (4WD), Arakoringa and Coober Pedy. Members captured thousands of images on both digital and film cameras. Those who could not enjoy the tour will see the images on future evenings at the club.
Plans are being finalised for future trips including a snow trip to Adaminaby in August and a wild life adventure to the Western Plains Zoo at Dubbo in September.
The Photographic Society continues to grow with all competitions expanding. Colour and mono prints, slides and projected digital images have attracted increased participation of newer members. A larger floor area has been provided to allow for the increased display, many thanks to St George Leagues Club.
Our program continues with distinguished speakers on the technical and aesthetic elements of the photographic process. Colour and monochrome printing, close up and nature photography, people and portraiture, training in digital image manipulation and presentation, and individual member portfolio displays - all contribute to a balanced program for members with varying experience.
If your interest in photography is growing, then a visit to our meetings will inspire you. We assemble most Thursday evenings and enjoy meeting and greeting new visitors. Phone President Michelle Hinde on 9570 1077 or Secretary Leisa Vasil on 9919 8951 during business hours for further information.
