The Club's Annual General Meeting was held on May 8 when the existing officer bearers were all re-elected: President Albert Oh; Vice-President Ivan Stanborough; Secretary Elizabeth Stanborough; Treasurer Bobby Tang; Sports Council Representative Percy Higgins; Publicity Officer Sally Ong; Committee: Beryl Bow, Alan Bow, Fae Wilson, Frank Wilson and Nancy Oh.
The Committee has organised special theme nights once a month since the beginning of this year. We started off with Chinese New Year celebrations on January 30 to usher in the Year of the Dog. Most ladies came lovely silk brocade cheongsams to portray the spirit of the night.
St Patrick's Day was our excuse to wear something green on March 20. Easter was celebrated by holding an Easter Hat Parade and competition. The judging panel, the five-piece band, had a difficult time choosing the eventual winners. After much deliberation, it was finally decided that the most attractive hat prize would go to Betty Roche. Nancy Oh and Ivan Stanborough won the best hat prise with the Easter them.
We recently celebrated Mother's Day and two lucky ladies each won a beautiful chrysanthemum plant as the door prize.
On April 24 we welcomed 20 members of the Woonona dance club. We enjoyed having all of them at our dance and we hope to see them return soon. There has been a change of time for our weekly dance since the beginning of May. Please not that the dance every Monday night is now held from 7.30 to 10.30. Entry is free and a free supper is provided.
We dance a variety of ballroom and Latin moves, the waltz, foxtrot, quickstep, rumba, cha cha and tango. The Club's name may be "Old Time" but lately have introduced the faster Jubilee Jive, Katrina Samba and the Paso Madrid.
