THE GREAT OUTDOORS COMES TO ST GEORGE
2 November 2006

Picture yourself watching the Dragons' opening games of 2007 on large plasma televisions and the sun beaming down - because you can do just that. Construction of a 240sqm indoor and outdoor terrace off the gaming lounge and TAB area began as the ink was drying on this edition of the Journal and should be completed by April 2007. With seating for about 150 people and provision for BBQs, coffee machines and a mobile bar, the Eastern Terrace area will hail a new outdoor entertainment option ahead of comprehensive indoor smoking bans in July.

"It's primarily meant to be an area that will allow people within the Club to go out and enjoy an outside courtyard
space for all the reasons you are able to enjoy a space in our fair city and the weather we get," builder Paynter Dixon Marketing Manager Lindsay Verdon said. The terrace will be surrounded by a three-metre wall lined in timber and tiles to keep the noise in without drowning everyone out. "It's a rather large rectangular terrace and it has a threemetre high wall around it which has been designed to both give privacy to the space as well as to cancel any acoustic concerns. A variety of different seating and a fully tiled floor will give the new terrace a touch of class. "This area will add an inviting outdoor recreation area formembers as well as preserving a facility for members who wish to smoke," Leagues Club CEO Danny Robinson says in his development report on page eight. A smaller 45sqm terrace will also be built to the south of the Grange Restaurant to provide function attendees a place to smoke.
